Job description

Rivian is seeking a proactive and driven Quality Engineer to join their Electric Vehicle manufacturing team in Normal, Illinois. This role focuses on leading the response to customer quality issues, conducting root-cause analyses, and enhancing manufacturing quality. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to resolve urgent quality issues and ensure customer satisfaction. The position requires a strong background in quality engineering within automotive manufacturing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Mechatronics, or a related field)
  • 2+ years of dedicated quality engineering experience, preferably within automotive manufacturing
  • Understanding of day-to-day production line operations, escalations, and reports
  • Proven experience coordinating in-plant containment actions in production environments
  • Working knowledge of core quality tools and standards, including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and 8D methodology
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Must be able to travel at least 20%, with potential for increased travel
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end customer complaint process for EV manufacturing issues
  • Identify and solve quality issues within factory quality gates
  • React quickly to quality escalations and drive immediate containment actions on the shop floor
  • Lead structured investigations to ensure timely implementation and closure of corrective actions
  • Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams to resolve urgent manufacturing and field quality issues
  • Support investigations of complex component failures using established problem-solving tools
  • Conduct production line audits to verify the effectiveness of containment actions
  • Provide real-time data analysis and quality feedback to support fast-paced EV production goals
  • Update essential quality documents based on lessons learned from field and manufacturing issues
