Job description

Amazon Lab126 is looking for a Senior Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) Systems Design Engineer to join the Centralized Electrical Engineering Organization. This senior-level role involves designing ESD protection for consumer products and requires a deep understanding of ESD-related failures. The engineer will collaborate with Mechanical Product Design, Electrical Engineering, and Software teams throughout the design and validation phases. The position also includes responsibilities for keeping executive management informed on key research and product issues.

Requirements

  • 7 years of experience or a Bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of experience in system-level ESD design for consumer electronic devices.
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of ESD failure mechanisms of electronic devices and ICs.
  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures.
  • Simulation experience in the area of ESD and/or EMI, signal integrity.
  • Experience in 3D electromagnetic fields simulation and circuit analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of analog and digital circuit design including low power circuits, audio circuits, processor architecture, and various communications protocols.
  • Lab experience with ESD gun, TLP machine, ESD current probe, and high voltage measurement.
  • Experience developing robust designs for EMI and RF de-sensitization.
  • Knowledge of mixed-signal board-level design and signal/power integrity analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze ESD protection for consumer products.
  • Conduct system-level ESD testing for troubleshooting.
  • Evaluate and select system-level ESD protection devices.
  • Drive existing system-level ESD simulation methodology to address current and future design challenges.
  • Perform electromagnetic and circuit-level modeling of electronic devices for system-level ESD simulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams during architecture, design, and validation phases.
  • Keep executive management updated on key research and product issues.
