Job description
This role is for a senior Data Engineer within Amazon Ads Finance, focusing on building a finance data platform for the FAIM organization. The team is tasked with creating pipelines and models that convert raw data into actionable insights for new AI advertising products. This position offers the opportunity to shape data infrastructure from the ground up in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data engineering and a passion for leading data partnerships across various teams.
Requirements
- Deep SQL fluency and 5+ years of experience architecting and operating production ETL on Redshift or equivalent at scale.
- Hands-on experience with the Amazon data stack including Datanet/ETLM, Cradle, Andes 3.0, Redshift Spectrum, EDX, and QuickSight.
- Strong judgment in dimensional data modeling, including fact/dim design and experience with denormalization and partitioning.
- Proficiency in Python or an equivalent programming language for orchestration and data quality automation.
- Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, and EMR.
- Ability to communicate effectively with users and technical teams to gather requirements and explain data engineering strategies.
Responsibilities
- Set the technical direction for the FAIM data warehouse, ETL pipelines, and reporting layer.
- Architect and operate Datanet/ETLM jobs, Cradle profiles, Andes datasets, and dashboards.
- Integrate telemetry from Amazon's data ecosystem into a clean, query-ready layer.
- Deliver on OP1/OP2 cycles and respond to ad-hoc executive requests with a bias for action.
- Transform messy, multi-source data into well-documented dimensional models.
- Drive code and design reviews while establishing data quality and pipeline reliability standards.
