Job description

The Senior Software Engineer for Discover Ads User Value at Google will focus on enhancing the user experience by optimizing ad delivery and pricing strategies. This role involves a blend of engineering, data analysis, and product thinking to improve the value for advertisers and users alike. The team is responsible for the ads auction system, which determines the best ads to show users. Engineers in this role will have opportunities to work on critical projects and collaborate across various teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
  • 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred.
  • 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 1 year of experience building and deploying information retrieval or recommendation systems in production.
  • 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.

Responsibilities

  • Write and test product or system development code.
  • Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices.
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug, track, and resolve them by analyzing the sources of issues.
