Job description

The Security Engineer role focuses on creating and maintaining a secure operating environment for Google's users and developers. The position is part of the Risk and Compliance Programs team within the Cloud CISO organization, which aims to manage insider and technology risks. Security Engineers are responsible for protecting network boundaries, monitoring systems for attacks, and collaborating with software engineers to identify and fix security vulnerabilities. The team values collaboration, innovation, and a passion for security.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with security assessments, security design reviews, or threat modeling.
  • 2 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security, and security protocols.
  • 2 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose programming languages.
  • 5 years of experience in engineering, cybersecurity, technology risk, or security-related roles is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an advisor to Cloud leadership on insider risk-related questions.
  • Evaluate the security and risk of complex, interconnected products, systems, and services.
  • Drive mitigation and remediation efforts for systemic security problems.
  • Apply engineering and technical best practices to design and implement security controls.
  • Partner with engineering organizations to develop, document, and test security controls.
