The Mechanical Design Engineer at KLA is responsible for developing innovative mechanical design solutions that meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements. This role involves collaboration across various engineering disciplines throughout the full product lifecycle. The position is part of the Film and Scatterometry Technology Division, which focuses on metrology solutions for semiconductor manufacturers. The engineer will tackle design challenges and ensure flawless integration and testing of systems.
Requirements
- Doctorate degree with 5+ years of related work experience, or a Master's degree with 8+ years, or a Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of experience.
- In-depth understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, sheet metal forming, and 3D printing.
- Solid knowledge of precision machine design.
- Basic knowledge of vacuum systems.
- Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals including design principles, machine elements, materials, and fabrication methods.
- Experience in 3D solid modeling, preferably with Creo or Solidworks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to adapt and persevere in the fast-paced semiconductor industry.
Responsibilities
- Drive requirement specification and conduct feasibility studies.
- Perform conceptual and detailed design, including detailed drawings using 3D solid modeling.
- Conduct various analyses such as fluid, thermal, vibrational, and FEA modeling.
- Understand and apply Geometric Tolerancing (GD&T) and perform detailed tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Hold design reviews throughout the design process and procure prototype parts.
- Assemble and test prototypes, ensuring system integration and testing.
- Create assembly and test procedures and release documentation to manufacturing.
- Work closely with other engineering groups to ensure flawless integration and testing.
