Job description

The Principal Strategic Planning Program Manager - Data Center Leasing at Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation will lead the development of strategies for optimal acquisition of global lease infrastructure. This role involves shaping and operationalizing strategic planning capabilities, connecting demand signals to supply options across regions. The manager will work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure planning decisions align with business priorities and drive measurable outcomes. The position requires a leader who can thrive in ambiguity and build durable capabilities within the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s)' project or people management experience.
  • 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and operationalize a strategic planning capability for Lease Acquisition.
  • Own portfolio-level strategic insights by synthesizing demand signals and supply optionality.
  • Establish cross-functional governance and drive alignment across stakeholders.
  • Lead scenario planning and analysis to optimize acquisition strategies.
  • Evaluate demand/supply changes against plan and ensure downstream execution reflects the approved plan.
  • Drive fiscal accountability by setting financial benchmarks and developing recommendations for cost optimization.
  • Develop regional strategies that align with global objectives.
  • Build and evolve planning mechanisms and the underlying data foundation.
  • Scale organizational strategic planning capability through process design and automation.
  • Frame complex decisions into executive narratives that clarify tradeoffs and recommendations.
  • Manage and develop a high-performing team to deliver a best-in-class service.
