We are seeking an engineer to shape the future of web browser extensions with a strong emphasis on user privacy, experience, and developer experience. The role involves working with the WebKit engine and Apple's frameworks to create APIs and tools for developers to enhance Safari. You will play a crucial role in improving the developer experience and the architecture of existing tools. Collaboration with various teams at Apple will be essential to drive the iOS and macOS extensions platforms forward.

Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of Swift, Objective-C, C++, or C
  • Strong object-oriented programming experience
  • Excellent debugging and analytical skills
  • Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative environment focused on learning
  • Creativity and enthusiasm for improving developer experience
  • Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Build the foundations of the Safari Extensions platforms
  • Implement new APIs and tools while improving existing ones
  • Enhance the architecture, security, and privacy of current tools
  • Engage in brainstorming, prototyping, coding, debugging, and shipping
  • Address developer and user feedback effectively
  • Collaborate with the WebKit team and other relevant teams at Apple

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
