JobsSystems Power Integrity Engineer - Apple Mac
Job description
The Mac organization is seeking an engineer to support the system-level Power Distribution Network (PDN) design, analysis, and validation for Mac and Accessory products. The role requires deep knowledge of power delivery network design and involves collaboration with multi-functional teams to implement power supply solutions. The engineer will conduct impedance and droop target validations and work closely with system design and validation teams. This position also includes providing guidance throughout the product design process and performing pathfinding studies during silicon development.
Requirements
- M.S. Degree with 4-7 years of relevant work experience or Ph.D. with a minimum of 3-4 years of experience.
- Proven technical understanding of power supply architectures, including voltage regulator technologies and PDN modeling.
- Familiarity with PCB design practices and trade-offs for PDN design and optimization.
- Experience with tools for 2.5D and 3D full wave analysis, as well as quasi-static tools.
- Understanding of HSPICE, Spectre, AMS, and Simplis models for system-level transient droop analysis.
- Ability to work with multiple cross-functional teams to make trade-offs on system performance.
- Good understanding of multi-phase Buck/Boost converter and LDO design principles.
- Experience with Python, MATLAB, or other programming languages is desired.
Responsibilities
- Support the design, analysis, and validation of the Power Distribution Network for Mac and Accessory products.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to design and implement power supply network solutions.
- Develop and validate impedance and droop targets for power supply quality verification.
- Conduct pathfinding studies during the silicon development phase and provide feedback on system integration trade-offs.
- Guide the system team on component selections for optimal power solutions.
- Work closely with System Design teams to provide layout strategy and guidelines during the design execution phase.
- Develop test suites with HW Validation teams for system-level validation of design margins.
- Provide PI support throughout the product design process, including pathfinding and verification stages.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life.
