Job description

Apple is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of silicon validation test solutions. This role involves collaborating with various engineering teams to provide system design support and ensure the end-to-end mechanical development of electromechanical systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in high power systems and data center products. The position emphasizes teamwork and effective communication to achieve project goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent study.
  • 10+ years of hands-on product design experience in electronic products or modules.
  • 5+ years of experience in 3D CAD.
  • Experience with MCAD-ECAD file exchange and IDX processes.
  • 3+ years of experience with NX 3D CAD tool and Team Center.
  • 5+ years of experience in computer, server, or networking equipment industries.
  • 3+ years of experience designing liquid cooled board assemblies and systems.
  • Good understanding of mechanical fabrication processes.
  • Disciplined in GD&T practices and able to perform Tolerance Analysis of complex assemblies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Define mechanical requirements and interfaces for high power electromechanical systems.
  • Conduct cross-functional design reviews and generate mechanical requirement documents.
  • Design board and system level mechanical assemblies and generate drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions.
  • Define mechanical component outlines and component keep outs for PCB layouts.
  • Perform dimensional and tolerance analysis.
  • Manage and track multiple priorities within schedule requirements.
  • Drive failure analyses and design of experiments (DOEs) to reach design solutions and corrective actions.
  • Design validation and characterization from prototype bring-up to product testing.
