Job description

This role involves leading the Manufacturing Engineering Function, focusing on departmental activities and performance standards. The position requires managing personnel and collaborating with outside suppliers to enhance manufacturing processes. Key responsibilities include budgeting, resource planning, and implementing continuous process improvement methodologies. The role also emphasizes health and safety in the workplace while driving operational excellence through various engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Industrial, Systems or Manufacturing Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience as an Industrial, Quality or Manufacturing Engineer, Black Belt or related position.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Systems or Manufacturing Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience in a related position.
  • Experience with Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) methods.
  • Knowledge of continuous process improvement techniques such as 5S, Kaizen, Error Proofing, and Value Stream Mapping.
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Health and Safety Fundamentals.
  • Experience in equipment and capital procurement.
  • Knowledge of New Product Introduction processes.
  • Experience conducting work measurement studies.
  • Understanding of Capital Project Management and Reporting.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma Methodologies and 7 Step Problem Solving Technique.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the process of working with outside suppliers and manage personnel in the Manufacturing Engineering Function.
  • Oversee budgeting, resource planning, and project management activities for the manufacturing department.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and implement methodologies to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
  • Provide technical inputs and direction for manufacturing and lead change management initiatives.
  • Champion health and safety behaviors and contribute to an injury-free workplace.
  • Utilize industrial manufacturing methods to manage equipment and capital procurement.
  • Review and design methods to improve efficiency in New Product Introduction.
  • Perform work measurement studies and create standard work methods for production lines.
  • Demonstrate capability in organizing and improving workflow using the Cummins Manufacturing Business Model Application.
  • Provide manufacturing leadership and improvement focus in operations, driving results in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
