The Director of Engineering for the Gemini Device Platform will lead efforts to create a cohesive ecosystem for on-device Gemini initiatives. This role involves overseeing a specialized platform team and providing leadership for a multi-site devices organization. The director will focus on establishing common APIs and shared components to enhance scalability across various devices. This position requires a visionary leader who can translate complex technical challenges into actionable strategies.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of experience in software engineering, building and working with systems in the technology organization.
• 5 years of experience in Android application or platform development.
• Experience defining strategic direction for engineering or operations organizations.
• Understanding of the Android platform and hardware-level constraints.

• Drive the roadmap for shared on-device componentry to ensure quick onboarding of new form factors.
• Build structural partnerships with PM and UX leads to transition from prototype to production at scale.
• Manage the organization’s budget, headcount planning, and annual OKR setting for the devices platform hub.
• Act as the primary technical lead for the Mountain View based hub, unblocking hardware dependencies.
