Job description

The Vice President of Data Engineering at Goldman Sachs will focus on supporting the development of the Firm's Budget and Compensation strategy through data analytics and reporting. This role involves maintaining and optimizing Tableau dashboards while overseeing junior team members. The position requires a strong understanding of internal client needs to enhance reporting and recommend technology solutions. The candidate will also automate reports and liaise between stakeholders and technology teams for efficient data design.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Business Analytics, Information Science, Information Systems, Engineering Management, or related field and two years of experience in the job offered or related role, or Bachelor's degree in the same fields and five years of experience.
  • Two years of experience in Human Resource, Human Capital, or Business Intelligence within a financial institution in a reporting or analytics function.
  • Experience in mining and organizing multiple data sets, including unstructured data exceeding 1 million rows.
  • Experience conducting at least five levels of testing on new dashboard releases and functional enhancements.
  • Proficiency in Tableau, including creating custom variables and building interactive views.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including vlookups, pivot tables, and conditional formatting.
  • Experience blending and transforming data using Alteryx.
  • Proficiency in SQL, including writing queries and extracting data.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of the Firm's Budget and Compensation strategy through data collection and analytics.
  • Monitor and maintain Tableau Dashboards, ensuring their health and performance.
  • Organize and interpret large data sets to create and disseminate reporting.
  • Understand internal client needs to enhance reports and recommend technology solutions.
  • Automate reports and report validations using various tools.
  • Liaise between stakeholders and technology teams for efficient data design.
