This position at Amazon Web Services focuses on expanding the Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) to government customers. The role requires a talented engineer skilled in integration, with a strong understanding of Agile and DevOps philosophies. The team operates in a fast-paced environment, aiming to provide innovative cloud computing solutions. Candidates will work on large-scale systems and contribute to the operational scalability of EC2 services.

Requirements

  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • 5+ years of Linux systems administration experience
  • 7+ years of scripting language experience
  • Experience in network protocols like DNS/DHCP/TCP
  • 5+ years of systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement experience
  • Experience in one or more scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, or Perl
  • Experience developing distributed service applications and user experience scenarios
  • Experience architecting or operating solutions built on AWS
  • 4+ years of test automation frameworks and tools building experience
  • 4+ years of deploying and operating in a Linux/Unix environment experience

Responsibilities

  • Operate and engineer systems on a massive scale to support government services.
  • Become a master at EC2 platform diagnosis, response, measurement, and automation.
  • Design and build the operational scalability that sustains the platform's growth.
  • Investigate customer issues and root causes of metrics trending negatively.
  • Consult with top engineers at Amazon to discuss new approaches for automating operational issues.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
