In this role, you will be part of the global controls team at Amazon Web Services, focusing on troubleshooting and project management related to building management systems (BMS) and electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS) in data centers. You will work alongside experts in the data center industry to develop new processes and standards while innovating in the controls space. The position requires a strong understanding of various mechanical and electrical components within data centers. Your contributions will help ensure the efficient operation and improvement of critical infrastructure.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of relevant controls experience, or 10+ years of relevant controls experience in lieu of a degree.
- 5+ years of experience with industrial controls in critical environments.
- 4+ years of general project or vendor management experience.
- Experience designing, configuring, programming, installing, troubleshooting or servicing HVAC Controls or Electrical SCADA systems.
- Experience using common industrial communication protocols such as MQTT, BACnet, and/or MODBUS.
- Demonstrated understanding of engineering documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholder deliverables and navigate difficult situations.
- Experience designing data centers or critical MEP infrastructure.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) or certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
- Prior AWS/Amazon experience is preferred.
- 4+ years of military service is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Train and assist internal customers with the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning, and operation of BMS and EPMS systems.
- Provide technical assistance and support to operations during the life cycle of the data center.
- Review results and action items from quarterly maintenance for BMS and EPMS and resolve them.
- Develop project scope of work, schedule, budget, and level of effort for BMS and EPMS projects.
- Manage scope, schedule, finance, and execution of BMS and EPMS improvement projects.
- Assist in procurement activities including requests for quotations and proposals.
- Participate in the AWS global on-call schedule to provide immediate technical support.
- Attend project-related meetings and coordinate with project leaders.
- Support commissioning activities related to controls projects in the data centers.
- Review, implement, troubleshoot, and iterate on the controls sequence of operation.
- Develop and modify controls logic programming and graphical user interfaces.
- Financially manage BMS and EPMS service contracts.
- Frequently visit assigned data centers to troubleshoot and supervise vendor work.
