Job description

The role is for a System Development Engineer II on the Amazon Dedicated Cloud Security Systems Engineering team, focusing on building and maintaining security services for critical infrastructure. The team is dedicated to enhancing system health and operational efficiency while providing scalable solutions to complex technical challenges. Candidates will work in a collaborative environment that values mentorship and knowledge-sharing. The primary goal is to ensure the security and reliability of services across Amazon's cloud infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
  • 2+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems
  • 4+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, and operating systems
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, or Rust

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable security solutions across thousands of devices in ADC regions.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and fix production software issues across multiple programming languages.
  • Develop tools, automation, and monitoring solutions to reduce manual toil and improve operational excellence.
  • Conduct deep-dive troubleshooting and technical post-mortems to identify root causes of complex issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize cloud infrastructure maintenance and drive positive customer experiences.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
