The Systems Development Engineer role at AWS focuses on building and delivering next-generation cloud computing security solutions. You will work with a talented team to address customer needs and improve the overall experience with Cryptography and Identity systems. This position emphasizes collaboration with both internal and external customers, leveraging a dev-ops model to enhance service engineering. A successful candidate will possess a strong ownership bias and a desire to continually improve processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 1+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals including networking, storage, and operating systems
  • Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above
  • Experience with PowerShell, Python, Ruby, or Java
  • Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby
  • 7+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems, and hands-on systems engineering experience

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Amazon's largest customers to address specific needs across a full suite of services.
  • Dive deep into technical issues and work diligently to improve the customer experience.
  • Execute projects and resolve issues while working closely with empowered engineers.
  • Contribute to the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS global infrastructure.
  • Innovate new ways of building massively scalable distributed security systems.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
