The Operations Design Engineer will join Amazon's North America LastMile Design Team, focusing on the expansion of the Delivery Station Network. This role involves optimizing delivery and sortation processes to meet safety, customer experience, quality, and cost goals. The team is dedicated to logistics innovation, combining expertise in industrial engineering and CAD design. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to implement new design standards and improve operational efficiency.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as an industrial engineer, operations engineer, manufacturing engineer, or project engineer in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of automated material handling systems, packaging technologies, and storage solutions.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and MS Project.
- Bachelor's degree or above in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other STEM field.
- Experience working with and managing third party vendors.
- Experience with Six Sigma and lean manufacturing.
- Master's degree in engineering, management, or technology is preferred.
- Experience in project management, real estate development, architecture, or design.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for building design, development, review, and release for approval of new delivery stations and existing station capacity improvements.
- Provide process expertise on engineering design including material flow, labor placement, and physical building layout components.
- Achieve the daily and weekly plan set for the Design Engineers.
- Collaborate with Design Managers, CAD drafters, and various teams to ensure effective design solutions.
- Contribute to a culture of standardization by sharing best practices with European and Worldwide counterparts.
- Lead continuous process and design benchmark initiatives and conduct deep dive benchmark studies.
- Support the Design quality control process to ensure accurate and zero-defect designs.
- Implement new Design standards in collaboration with various engineering and safety teams.
- Identify and support new expansion, retrofit, and process improvement initiatives at the project level.
- Implement solutions for recurring process issues and improvement projects within Design Engineering processes.
- Facilitate cross-functional project-specific reviews to collaborate on design solutions.
- Travel up to 25% to support complex designs with quick, simple, and standard solutions.
