Job description

This role is part of the AWS Utility Computing organization, focusing on the development and management of database services, particularly Aurora MySQL and Limitless Database. The position involves working closely with customers to address their challenges and enhance the performance of managed database services. You will collaborate with developers and product managers throughout the product lifecycle, from customer need analysis to feature implementation. The team values diverse experiences and encourages candidates from various backgrounds to apply.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relational database technology experience such as Redshift, Oracle, MySQL, or MS SQL.
  • 5+ years of experience troubleshooting skills at all levels, from application to network to host.
  • 3+ years of experience in operations of highly available and scalable internet systems with a large customer base.
  • 3+ years of experience with primary AWS services such as EC2, ELB, RDS, VPC, Route53, and S3.
  • 3+ years of experience in a modern programming language such as Ruby, Java, Python, or C#.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with customers to understand their challenges and provide technical solutions.
  • Act as the voice of the customer to influence the engineering process and design new features.
  • Drive feature enhancements and resolve root causes of issues to improve service performance.
  • Contribute to automation solutions to enhance operational efficiency of the database service.
  • Engage with the open-source community through forums, conferences, and code submissions.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
