Job description
The Data Center Commissioning Engineer (CxE) is part of a creative team focused on building and supporting Amazon's data center operations. This role involves overseeing the testing and validation of electrical and mechanical infrastructure, ensuring compliance with engineering designs and customer requirements. The CxE will manage third-party vendors and coordinate site activities to resolve technical issues and drive project success. The position offers opportunities for multi-discipline input and continuous improvement within the commissioning program.
Requirements
- 3+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- NETA or ASHRAE certification or commissioning specific education courses
- Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
- Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
- Experience using a variety of web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing
Responsibilities
- Provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
- Review design documents and equipment submittals.
- Lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT) and manage third-party commissioning vendors.
- Audit Cx vendors’ activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements.
- Regularly report commissioning progress and metrics to the Regional Commissioning Manager.
- Coordinate site activities and prioritize tasks across AWS engineering, capacity delivery, operations, and contractor teams.
- Communicate lessons learned upon project completion to assist peers on similar projects.
- Participate in initiatives that drive improvement to the commissioning program.
