Job description

Jacobs is seeking a mid-level Transportation Drainage Engineer to join their Dallas office, focusing on highway, bridge, and rail projects across Texas and other states. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and be motivated to grow into task leadership roles. This position involves contributing to the planning, analysis, and design of transportation drainage systems while working closely with multidisciplinary teams. As the role develops, the engineer will take on increasing responsibilities for task management and mentoring junior staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a U.S. ABET accredited school or equivalent.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Texas or the ability to obtain it within six months if licensed in another state.
  • 5+ years of experience working on mid- and/or large-scale transportation related projects providing drainage design, hydrologic, and hydraulic analyses.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and coordinate all drainage design phases of a project with other team disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a team environment with other project engineers on detailed enclosed storm drainage analysis and design for urban and rural transportation projects.
  • Conduct drainage analysis and design per the requirements of the project and various transportation and public works agencies.
  • Support the preparation of contract drainage drawings, specifications, and estimates.
  • Prepare project-specific drainage and hydraulic reports and technical memoranda.
  • Provide hydraulic impact analysis for cross drainage structures and incorporate the results in the design with other disciplines.
  • Assist with mentoring and technical development of junior engineers.
