Job description

The Senior Firmware Engineer will join the Firmware Center of Excellence within Microsoft's Silicon and Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering team. This role focuses on developing firmware for Azure Infrastructure, particularly in the area of AI and compute silicon. The engineer will work on innovative firmware technology to enhance security and performance for Microsoft and its customers. The position requires collaboration across various teams to ensure the successful implementation of firmware solutions.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience OR Master's Degree in the same fields AND 4+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in the same fields AND 5+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  • 7+ years’ experience in software development with C++.
  • 7+ years’ experience in post-silicon SoC or system validation or diagnostic/stress test content development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop compute-intensive and highly performant test applications running on the MAIA hardware systems.
  • Design and develop workload profiling and analysis tools that capture and benchmark the runtimes of various compute blocks and/or hardware accelerators.
  • Develop end-to-end post-silicon tests and tools for functional and performance scenarios of the system.
  • Collaborate across organizations with AI Frameworks SW, Silicon & System Validation, Architecture and Firmware.
