Job description

The Senior Performance Architect role is part of the Compute Silicon and Manufacturing Organization at Microsoft, focusing on enhancing the performance of cloud hardware infrastructure. This team is crucial for delivering operational success for the Cobalt program through innovative hardware manufacturing and planning processes. The role involves developing performance modeling methodologies and collaborating with various teams to optimize System on Chip (SOC) architectures. Candidates should have a strong passion for customer-focused solutions and a deep understanding of computer architecture.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience OR Master's Degree in the same fields AND 4+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in the same fields AND 5+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop performance modeling methodologies by creating and owning SOC/IP cycle-accurate/approximate performance models and analysis tools in C++ and Python.
  • Use workload information and collaborate with Micro-architects and the RTL team to identify performance bottlenecks.
  • Leverage AI tools and infrastructure for comprehensive performance modeling, including coding, performance tuning, and analysis.
  • Verify the correlation of the SOC performance models to the RTL implementation.
  • Work closely with product architecture SOC architecture teams and IP architecture to ensure efficient and industry-leading systems.
