Job description
The Senior Data Scientist, Experimentation & Causal Inference at Apple will focus on advancing the scientific foundations of measurement, experimentation, and organizational learning across Apple Services. This role combines statistics, causal inference, and experimental design to define success metrics and generate causal evidence. The ideal candidate will work with various teams to establish measurement frameworks and improve decision quality. They will also help build experimentation intelligence systems to transform isolated outcomes into reusable scientific knowledge.
Requirements
- Master's degree or higher in Statistics, Data Science, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative discipline.
- 5+ years of experience designing, analyzing, and interpreting large-scale experiments or causal analyses.
- Deep expertise in experimental design, statistical inference, causal inference, power analysis, and measurement strategy.
- Strong programming skills in Python and/or R.
- PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Economics, Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Experience with modern causal machine learning methods such as uplift modeling, causal forests, and Bayesian experimentation.
Responsibilities
- Define measurement frameworks and experiment methodologies to improve organizational decision quality.
- Establish experimentation standards and develop advanced causal methodologies.
- Build experimentation intelligence systems to drive cross-experiment learning initiatives.
- Evaluate experiment validity issues and ensure reliable evidence generation.
- Help establish experimentation approaches for emerging product paradigms.
