The Principal Technical Program Manager role within the Microsoft Ads team focuses on investigating marketplace anomalies and ensuring operational excellence. The team, known as the Deviation Detectives, is responsible for monitoring and resolving issues that impact the Microsoft Ads ecosystem. This position requires a blend of technical leadership and data analysis skills to drive outcomes across various teams. The ideal candidate will thrive in ambiguous environments and possess strong problem-solving abilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex investigations into marketplace deviations by analyzing business performance and user signals.
- Perform advanced data analysis across multiple large-scale data sources to generate actionable insights.
- Serve as the technical and operational lead for high-severity marketplace issues during live-site events.
- Coordinate end-to-end mitigation of issues by partnering with various global teams.
- Drive continuous improvement of marketplace monitoring and anomaly detection frameworks.
- Lead deep root-cause analyses and post-incident reviews to ensure long-term prevention strategies.
- Influence best practices for incident response and marketplace health management across teams.
- Participate in an on-call rotation, acting as the primary point of contact during critical incidents.
- Mentor and guide other individual contributors by sharing investigation approaches and operational best practices.
