Job description

The Software Engineering Manager will lead the Enterprise Software team at Rivian, focusing on the development of scalable, intelligent enterprise platforms for manufacturing and supply chain ecosystems. This role combines strong software engineering fundamentals with a passion for innovation and team building. The manager will oversee the design, development, and delivery of enterprise applications while fostering a culture of excellence within the team. The ideal candidate will drive an AI-first mindset in workflows and decision-support systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with a proven track record of shipping high-quality, scalable software.
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership or management role with a passion for mentoring and growing teams.
  • Strong foundation in software engineering principles and practices, with proficiency in one or more modern languages such as Python, Java, Go, or C#.
  • Experience with observability stacks like Grafana, DataDog, or Splunk.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of software engineers responsible for enterprise applications.
  • Establish a world-class software team by hiring, coaching, and developing top engineering talent.
  • Champion and enforce strong software engineering principles and best practices.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and execution of multiple projects.
  • Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams to define technical roadmaps.
  • Drive a next-generation, AI-first mindset in designing workflows and decision-support systems.
  • Own complex technical initiatives from concept through to production.
  • Manage resource allocation for the department, including prioritization and staff deployment.
