Job description

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Identity team is seeking strong software engineers to innovate and enhance the identity, authentication, and authorization stack for the AWS cloud. This role focuses on building high-performing, reliable systems in a complex, multi-tenancy, and distributed environment. The team is responsible for designing and delivering core storage fleet management components to improve scalability and availability. Successful candidates will have a strong technical background and excellent project management skills.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
  • 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
  • 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team’s software development and collaborate with peers on related teams
  • Ensure the delivery of working software systems spanning the full software lifecycle
  • Design and review others’ work to ensure it is well designed, extensible, performant, and secure
  • Contribute code that demonstrates best practices for others to emulate
  • Solve problems through non-technical solutions such as process improvement and culture changes
  • Ensure the team has good operational practices with correct alarms, telemetry, and runbooks
  • Train, recruit, assess, and provide career guidance to team members

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
