The Hosted Execution (HEX) team at Amazon is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to create infrastructure solutions for internal services. This role focuses on transitioning from legacy hosting products to AWS-native solutions while developing Cloud Development Kit (CDK) constructs. The engineer will work on highly distributed systems to enhance developer productivity and operational excellence. This position offers the chance to influence compute infrastructure decisions that affect numerous Amazon services.

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience with design patterns, reliability, and scaling of systems
• 1+ years of experience as a software development engineer or in a related role
• 1+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded, or distributed software applications
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

• Design and build highly distributed systems and customer-friendly tools for migrating services to AWS-native solutions.
• Develop infrastructure CDK constructs for the Stores compute platform while ensuring architectural integrity.
• Build automation to enhance operations, maintenance, and developer productivity for HEX platform customers.
• Identify and implement solutions to detect and prevent outages, improving system reliability.
• Provide operational support for HEX services, including troubleshooting complex distributed systems issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to gather requirements and design technical solutions.
• Contribute to the team's technical vision and architecture, balancing immediate needs with long-term goals.
• Participate in on-call rotations and maintain operational health metrics for team-owned services.
