The Amazon Web Services Open Data Analytics organization is seeking an experienced engineer to join the core engines and datalake team. This role focuses on enhancing the performance, scalability, and reliability of query engines and open table formats like Apache Iceberg, Hudi, and Delta. The engineer will collaborate closely with open-source communities to drive innovations and contribute to the development of cloud Big Data processing platforms. The position offers the opportunity to shape technical direction and influence design decisions within a dynamic and innovative environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
- 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
- Experience as a mentor or tech lead for an engineering team
- 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize core components of query engines and open table formats to enhance performance and scalability.
- Design and implement innovative solutions to improve feature capabilities and security in table format integrations.
- Collaborate with the open-source community to drive improvements and integrate upstream changes.
- Ensure data consistency and durability while achieving breakthrough performance for large-scale data lake workloads.
- Improve the organization's automation and testing capabilities.
- Manage complex deliverables and research projects with deadlines.
- Mentor and train team members on design techniques and coding best practices.
- Serve as a point of contact for challenging customer issues related to data lake workloads.
