Job description
As a Senior HW Engineer at Amazon Leo, you will be responsible for testing and qualifying next-generation spacecraft PCBAs and conducting failure mode analysis on complex phased array systems. You will work closely with production, development, electrical, RF, supply chain, and quality teams to provide manufacturability input for hardware design. The role involves utilizing innovative solutions to solve challenging problems and establishing new processes to support the build ramp. Your contributions will be critical in driving continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
- 2+ years of using Linux and demonstrated proficiency with associated tools or languages
- Experience with performance and log analysis
- Experience in hardware design and validation of components, subsystems, and systems
- Experience scripting for automation, such as Python, Perl, or Ruby
- Master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
Responsibilities
- Conduct failure mode analysis (FMA) and root cause analysis on phased array PCBAs and systems to determine underlying causes of defects.
- Specify, procure, and establish FMA test stations optimized for phased array PCBA troubleshooting on the production floor.
- Communicate non-conformances to quality engineering teams and PCBA suppliers, working collaboratively to implement corrective and preventive actions for recurring defects.
- Write comprehensive technical specifications for troubleshooting procedures, tailored to Amazon Leo's satellite manufacturing requirements.
- Assist in recruiting, training, and mentoring engineers and technicians on troubleshooting techniques, failure analysis methodologies, and debug equipment operation.
- Lead defect triage sessions and track failure trends across production shifts to identify systemic issues and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
