Members are dedicated to knowledge-sharing and mentorship, fostering an environment that supports career growth. The role requires deep expertise in database internals and the ability to communicate technical findings clearly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent experience with database administration.
  • 4+ years of experience with relational database technologies such as Redshift, Oracle, MySQL, or MS SQL.
  • Experience with at least one scripting language (shell, Python, Perl) and a procedural language for at least one database (PL/SQL, T-SQL, etc.).
  • Experience in any Big Data architecture or strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience in Linux/RHEL and knowledge of database design and implementation.
  • Experience with general troubleshooting/debugging of hardware and software engineering practices in large-scale systems.
  • Experience with automation and version control tools.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage expertise in database internals to diagnose and resolve complex production issues.
  • Investigate and resolve customer-facing database problems including performance degradation and data corruption.
  • Build automation, log analysis tools, and diagnostic scripts to accelerate troubleshooting.
  • Apply knowledge of database replication technologies to guide customers through migration challenges.
  • Collaborate with software development engineers on root cause analysis by reviewing code.
  • Operate within the AWS ecosystem to investigate issues across infrastructure and database layers.
  • Document technical findings clearly to enable support teams and customers to resolve issues independently.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
