Job description

As a Manufacturing Automation Engineer at Amazon Lab126, you will lead the design and development of innovative automation solutions that integrate AI and robotics for global manufacturing operations. You will work closely with Hardware and Operations teams in the US and China, transforming complex product requirements into efficient automation systems. The role involves designing equipment in 3D CAD and collaborating with contract manufacturers to scale automation solutions. You will be part of a skilled team focused on enhancing product design and customer satisfaction through advanced automation technologies.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of robotics work cells and control systems experience
  • Proven track record of taking automation concepts from design through build and integration
  • 3+ years of experience with prototyping and implementation
  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • Experience integrating AI/ML and computer vision into manufacturing automation systems
  • Demonstrated experience incubating novel automation technologies from R&D through production deployment at scale
  • Strong background in tolerance analysis, GD&T, and designing automation for tight-tolerance assemblies
  • 3+ years of experience with PLC/HMI programming

Responsibilities

  • Innovate, design and develop cost-effective assembly automation solutions.
  • Design assembly automation equipment using 3D CAD.
  • Scale automation solutions by working closely with Contract Manufacturers.
  • Develop custom automation solutions for unique customer needs.
  • Review automation equipment DFM with Contract Manufacturers and internal stakeholders.
  • Understand automation trends and support defining the automation roadmap for the next 3 years.
