Job description

The Application Support Manager will lead a technical support team for Citi's Instant Payments application, focusing on operational stability and performance in cloud environments. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with team leadership in a high-transaction environment. The manager will implement observability, resiliency, and recoverability solutions while collaborating with various technology teams. This position offers the opportunity to drive improvements in service levels and operational efficiencies.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive, hands-on experience in application support, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or technical operations for high-volume financial applications.
  • Demonstrable direct experience with cloud-native architectures and management of microservices and containers.
  • Extensive practical experience with major Public Cloud platforms and enterprise private cloud environments.
  • Proven track record in implementing and operating comprehensive observability stacks.
  • Deep understanding of resiliency engineering principles and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Strong technical background in instant payments or real-time financial transaction processing systems.
  • Expertise in automation, scripting, and infrastructure-as-code principles.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage, mentor, and develop a technical support team while engaging in operational tasks and incident response.
  • Take ownership of ensuring operational stability and performance of the Instant Payments application across cloud environments.
  • Lead the implementation and optimization of observability, resiliency, and recoverability solutions.
  • Contribute to improving service levels through operational efficiencies and incident management.
  • Participate in defining and implementing application onboarding guidelines and provide technical guidance to development teams.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex technical issues and implement permanent fixes.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiencies.
  • Effectively communicate technical details and operational risks to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure operational risk is managed effectively and compliance with applicable policies is maintained.
