Job description

The Principal Software Engineer will join the High Income and Alternatives Technology team, focusing on developing quality software components for managing significant investment funds. This role involves collaboration with Portfolio Managers and Analysts, contributing to the flagship portfolio construction platform, Alphabet. The team values technology and problem-solving, emphasizing strong coding standards and practices. Candidates should have a solid background in software development, particularly in the investment management domain.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or computational field such as Computer Science, Statistics, or Applied Mathematics.
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in building complex software solutions, preferably in investment management.
  • Full-stack software development knowledge, preferably with Angular, Java, and Spring Boot.
  • Experience with testing software, including writing automated unit, integration, performance, and end-to-end tests.
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices and the ability to adapt to scope changes.
  • Understanding of Fixed Income instruments and bond market functioning is a significant plus.
  • Experience with AWS cloud environment development and deployment is a plus.
  • Kubernetes/EKS deployment and operations management exposure is a plus.
  • Progress towards CFA program certification is a significant plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop quality software components used by Portfolio Managers and Analysts.
  • Engage and contribute to the development of the Alphabet portfolio construction platform.
  • Define and implement development practices, standards, and strategies across multiple teams.
  • Lead development teams through mentorship and technical expertise.
  • Ensure strong coding standards and patterns while building with testability in mind.
