Job description

The Data Engineering Manager at Netflix will lead a team focused on building centralized and large-scale datasets for Ads data initiatives. This role emphasizes the creation of standardized, scalable datasets and frameworks to enhance data discoverability and usability. The manager will oversee inventory and demand management, pricing, media planning data, and sales performance data. A strong commitment to data privacy and security is essential while delivering impactful advertising experiences.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering.
  • Strong programming experience in at least one major language and SQL.
  • 3+ years of engineering leadership experience, preferably in the Ad tech domain.
  • A BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience with distributed data processing technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, or Flink.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers building high-scale, reliable data processing systems for the Ads domain.
  • Build a strong team vision and roadmap for the team.
  • Partner with diverse stakeholders to enable impactful collaboration among teams.
  • Provide direct, constructive feedback to help team members grow.
  • Monitor and address any productivity drains on the team.
  • Hire and grow a diverse, high-performing team of data engineering talent.

Benefits

  • Employees at Netflix are often offered flexible, people-first benefits—unlimited time away, generous parental leave, global family-forming support, mental-health programs (mindfulness, free counseling/coaching), and health coverage tailored by country. Financially, Netflix pays at personal top-of-market and lets employees choose their mix of cash vs. fully-vested 10-year stock options, alongside donation and volunteer matching. Convenience perks can include trust-based travel/expense policies, relocation support, and “Work, Not Drive” rideshare flexibility.
