Job description

The role is part of the Commerce Insights and Data Products Engineering team at Netflix, focusing on building low-latency data products that support algorithms and machine learning models. The team is dedicated to optimizing product experiences for Netflix members through innovative data solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background and a product mindset, collaborating closely with data scientists and engineers. This position emphasizes the importance of creating reliable distributed data systems to ensure high-quality data delivery.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in at least one major language on the JVM stack such as Java or Scala.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and data engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems and data processing frameworks like Spark or Flink.
  • Understanding of how machine learning systems consume data.
  • Ability to design scalable and reliable data products.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with data scientists and engineers to build data products.
  • Develop highly available and reliable distributed data systems.
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality data for Netflix products.
  • Craft scalable systems to meet product and engineering goals.
  • Prioritize observability in system designs to facilitate proactive issue detection.

Benefits

  • Employees at Netflix are often offered flexible, people-first benefits—unlimited time away, generous parental leave, global family-forming support, mental-health programs (mindfulness, free counseling/coaching), and health coverage tailored by country. Financially, Netflix pays at personal top-of-market and lets employees choose their mix of cash vs. fully-vested 10-year stock options, alongside donation and volunteer matching. Convenience perks can include trust-based travel/expense policies, relocation support, and “Work, Not Drive” rideshare flexibility.
