Job description

The Senior ML Engineer at Netflix will bridge the gap between AI research and game features, focusing on implementing GenAI models into production pipelines and game engines. This role involves collaborating with designers to create AI-native gameplay mechanics and optimizing model performance to enhance player experience. The engineer will also mentor junior team members and translate complex AI research into practical applications. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in game development and machine learning.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in the games industry with a solid grasp of game loops and memory management.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Machine Learning and GenAI tools in a product-driven environment.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages like C++ and C#.
  • Experience with model fine-tuning and managing the end-to-end ML lifecycle.
  • Ability to solve problems in the grey area of emerging technology.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical integration of GenAI tools into existing game engines and workflows.
  • Work directly with designers to build functional AI-native gameplay mechanics.
  • Own the performance side of GenAI by optimizing model latency and memory footprints.
  • Develop and maintain AI tools for internal teams, such as automated texture generation.
  • Provide guidance to mid-level and junior engineers on ML best practices and ethical AI implementation.
  • Translate complex AI research papers into stable, production-ready code.

Benefits

  • Employees at Netflix are often offered flexible, people-first benefits—unlimited time away, generous parental leave, global family-forming support, mental-health programs (mindfulness, free counseling/coaching), and health coverage tailored by country. Financially, Netflix pays at personal top-of-market and lets employees choose their mix of cash vs. fully-vested 10-year stock options, alongside donation and volunteer matching. Convenience perks can include trust-based travel/expense policies, relocation support, and “Work, Not Drive” rideshare flexibility.
