The L5 Software Engineer role at Netflix focuses on building and operating the foundational services for the Games Developer Platform and Cloud Games infrastructure. • 10+ years of professional experience designing, building, and operating highly available distributed backend systems at scale.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, including low-latency architecture and fault-tolerant design.
• Strong experience building developer-facing platform services and APIs, such as REST and gRPC.
• Proficiency in one or more modern backend languages, such as Java or C++.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure, as well as microservices and both SQL and NoSQL data stores.
• A track record of technical leadership, driving complex projects end-to-end and influencing across team boundaries.
• Comfort with high ambiguity and the ability to define structure and clarity in a fast-moving environment.
• Prior experience in the gaming industry or working on game platform infrastructure is a plus.

• Design and operate the foundational systems for identity, authentication, and authorization.
• Architect and evolve core services for the Netflix Game Developer Platform, including cloud saves and leaderboards.
• Mentor junior engineers through design pairing, code review, and hands-on guidance.
• Own the full lifecycle of services from design through production, ensuring reliability and operational excellence.
