Job description

The role is for a senior engineer on the Membership & Monetization Platform (MMP) team at Netflix, which manages the commerce backbone for approximately 330 million members globally. The team focuses on building resilient, high-scale distributed systems that support subscription management and pricing. The engineer will work on product-facing features and platform infrastructure, collaborating with product managers, designers, and data scientists. This position also involves tackling complex distributed systems challenges and ensuring production reliability.

Requirements

  • 9+ years of experience building resilient, high-scale, low-latency distributed systems in production.
  • Experience dealing with correctness problems such as race conditions and eventual consistency.
  • A platform mindset with the ability to translate vague business directives into scalable solutions.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex technical trade-offs to non-engineering partners.
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Work across the full spectrum of product-facing features and platform infrastructure.
  • Partner with product managers, designers, and data scientists to build commerce experiences.
  • Tackle distributed systems challenges including race conditions and throughput optimization.
  • Evolve infrastructure to support Netflix's expanding commerce surface.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation for Tier 0 services, ensuring production reliability.

Benefits

  • Employees at Netflix are often offered flexible, people-first benefits—unlimited time away, generous parental leave, global family-forming support, mental-health programs (mindfulness, free counseling/coaching), and health coverage tailored by country. Financially, Netflix pays at personal top-of-market and lets employees choose their mix of cash vs. fully-vested 10-year stock options, alongside donation and volunteer matching. Convenience perks can include trust-based travel/expense policies, relocation support, and “Work, Not Drive” rideshare flexibility.
