Job description
As a Senior Data Scientist focused on Infrastructure Availability at Netflix, you will be part of a data organization that collaborates with infrastructure engineering teams to enhance system reliability and performance. Your role will involve developing metrics, conducting analyses, and making recommendations based on data insights. You will work closely with various teams, including data science, software engineering, and technical product management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in metric development and a passion for improving data utilization within the infrastructure.
Requirements
- Experienced in metric development and measurement in the domain of system reliability and availability for large, distributed systems.
- Fluent in at least one analytics and scripting language like Python.
- Experienced in engineering data pipelines and ETL in languages like SQL and workflow orchestration tools like Apache Airflow.
- An exceptional communicator with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and thrive with minimal oversight and process.
Responsibilities
- Develop metrics to measure the availability, reliability, and performance of Netflix’s infrastructure stack.
- Partner with Data Engineering, Data Science, and Analytics Engineers to productionize system-level availability metrics and dashboards.
- Conduct root cause and causal inference analysis of availability issues and make recommendations for remediation.
- Connect with the larger analytics community at Netflix to bring more visibility to our work.
