Job description

This role is focused on building low-latency data products that power algorithms and machine learning models for Netflix's commerce and identity flows. The Growth Insights and Foundations Data Engineering team is dedicated to enhancing the customer experience through data insights. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background and a product mindset, collaborating closely with data scientists and other engineers. The position emphasizes the importance of creating reliable distributed data systems to ensure high-quality data delivery.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in at least one major programming language, preferably on the JVM stack such as Java or Scala, and SQL.
  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems and data processing frameworks like Spark or Flink.
  • Knowledge of transport protocols and experience building APIs and services using frameworks like Spring or gRPC.
  • Strong operational awareness and the ability to design multi-tenant systems that handle high-scale demands.
  • Ability to work in agile environments with vague requirements and a willingness to take smart risks.

  • Build and maintain highly available and reliable distributed data systems.
