In this role at Netflix, you will support live streaming events by focusing on cloud traffic and capacity planning. You will prepare and execute load tests to ensure that critical applications and cloud infrastructure can handle sudden increases in API traffic. The position requires collaboration with multiple stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of live events. Your work will impact various phases of the live event lifecycle, from planning through testing and launch.
Requirements
- 5+ years of service reliability or operational experience running large-scale, high-performance systems.
- Knowledge of L4 Load Balancer, HTTP cache, and reverse proxy technologies.
- Expert-level knowledge of Unix or Linux systems and TCP/IP network fundamentals.
- Proficient understanding of networking principles and application protocols, especially DNS, TLS, and HTTP(s).
- Proficient in a programming language such as Go, Python, or Rust.
- Experience with real-time and Big Data analytic processing technologies like Kafka and Spark SQL.
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and communicate effectively.
Responsibilities
- Drive continual improvement in observability, monitoring, and scalability for live streaming.
- Implement, automate, execute, and analyze results from various live streaming delivery tests.
- Write and review code, develop documentation, and debug complex systems.
- Coordinate and collaborate with multiple stakeholders for live-streaming events.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and work flexible hours based on live events.
Benefits
- Employees at Netflix are often offered flexible, people-first benefits—unlimited time away, generous parental leave, global family-forming support, mental-health programs (mindfulness, free counseling/coaching), and health coverage tailored by country. Financially, Netflix pays at personal top-of-market and lets employees choose their mix of cash vs. fully-vested 10-year stock options, alongside donation and volunteer matching. Convenience perks can include trust-based travel/expense policies, relocation support, and “Work, Not Drive” rideshare flexibility.
