·FY 2025Job description
The role involves partnering with data scientists and engineers to build low-latency data products that enhance customer experiences at Netflix. The Growth Insights and Foundations Data Engineering team focuses on ensuring the availability of critical data for current and future members. Candidates should have a strong engineering background and be proficient in data systems and services. The position emphasizes collaboration, operational awareness, and a commitment to quality.
Requirements
- Proficient in at least one major programming language, preferably on the JVM stack, and SQL.
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems and data processing frameworks such as Spark or Flink.
- Knowledge of transport protocols and experience building APIs/services.
- Strong data intuition and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in agile environments with vague requirements.
Responsibilities
- Build low-latency data products to power algorithms and machine learning models.
- Develop highly available and reliable distributed data systems and services.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality data for use in the Netflix product.
- Design multi-tenant systems that handle high-scale and high-throughput demands.
- Prioritize observability in system designs with comprehensive monitoring and alerting.
Benefits
- Employees at Netflix are often offered flexible, people-first benefits—unlimited time away, generous parental leave, global family-forming support, mental-health programs (mindfulness, free counseling/coaching), and health coverage tailored by country. Financially, Netflix pays at personal top-of-market and lets employees choose their mix of cash vs. fully-vested 10-year stock options, alongside donation and volunteer matching. Convenience perks can include trust-based travel/expense policies, relocation support, and “Work, Not Drive” rideshare flexibility.
