Job description

The role is for a distributed systems engineer on the Data Developer Experience (DDX) team at Netflix, focused on enhancing the experience of data practitioners. The team aims to boost productivity by developing innovative data tools and infrastructure. Candidates will work on solving real business needs at scale and architecting robust distributed systems. The position is open to remote candidates within the U.S., promoting a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Requirements

  • You have 2+ years of experience in building large-scale distributed systems features or applications.
  • You are proficient in the design and development of RESTful web services.
  • You are experienced in building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems.
  • You are experienced in Java or other object-oriented programming languages.
  • You are comfortable tackling multi-threading challenges.
  • You have a BS in Computer Science or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Solve real business needs at large scale by applying software engineering and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Architect and build a robust, scalable, and highly available distributed infrastructure.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and collaborate with engineers, product managers, and TPM across teams.
  • Share experiences with the open source communities and contribute to Netflix OSS.

Benefits

  • Employees at Netflix are often offered flexible, people-first benefits—unlimited time away, generous parental leave, global family-forming support, mental-health programs (mindfulness, free counseling/coaching), and health coverage tailored by country. Financially, Netflix pays at personal top-of-market and lets employees choose their mix of cash vs. fully-vested 10-year stock options, alongside donation and volunteer matching. Convenience perks can include trust-based travel/expense policies, relocation support, and “Work, Not Drive” rideshare flexibility.
