The role is part of DoorDash Labs, focusing on robotics and automation to enhance last mile logistics. The main responsibility is to develop embedded control algorithms for various robot systems, ensuring their performance through rigorous testing. The position requires a proactive approach to improve development processes and testing methods. The successful candidate will work closely with the Autonomy team and report to a Technical Lead.

• BS/MS degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
• 5+ years of hands-on experience building robots, autonomous vehicles, or complex mechatronics systems
• Experience developing and testing brushless motor controls
• Proficiency in model-based design using MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow
• Strong understanding of feedback control, sensors, actuators, embedded controllers, and CAN communication
• Working knowledge of C and Python

• Design and implement algorithms for closed-loop vehicle controls and auxiliary controls of robot systems.
• Build infrastructure to systematically verify the behavior of algorithms.
• Proactively design features and systems to exceed the needs of internal customers.
• Define and solve new problems using new skills and knowledge as needed.
