Job description

DoorDash is looking for an Engineering Director to lead the Logistics team in San Francisco. This role involves overseeing a multi-disciplinary organization of over 100 engineers focused on building intelligent, real-time systems for the fulfillment engine. The director will be responsible for architecting core platforms for real-time dispatching and dynamic pricing while ensuring production reliability. The position requires a strong commitment to leveraging AI and machine learning to transform logistics systems.

Requirements

  • A B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 7+ years leading engineering managers and multiple teams.
  • Experience building and scaling high-performing engineering organizations.
  • A strategic mindset that shapes technical direction.
  • The ability to operate at the intersection of engineering, product, and business.
  • Deep experience developing talent and building culture.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the engineering strategy, transitioning bespoke algorithmic solutions into a unified, scalable AI/Optimization platform.
  • Lead the development of systems that solve complex combinatorial problems in milliseconds at massive scale.
  • Ensure that machine learning models are backed by robust feature stores and low-latency serving infrastructure.
  • Evolve the underlying distributed systems to handle exponential growth.
  • Partner with Business, Product, and Data Science to turn high-level marketplace objectives into technical roadmaps.
  • Mentor high-growth leaders and attract world-class talent in Distributed Systems and Applied AI.
