As a Senior Staff Engineer on the Search team at DoorDash, you will lead the technical strategy and architectural direction for the entire search stack. This pivotal role focuses on evolving the search platform to enhance consumer experiences and drive impactful outcomes. You will work closely with various stakeholders to chart the roadmap and improve discovery and conversion. This position emphasizes hands-on problem-solving and mentoring within the organization.
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent.
- 10+ years of industry experience with a track record of leading large-scale components and systems.
- Proficiency in using AI coding tools in the full software development lifecycle.
- Proven ability to drive multi-quarter technical roadmaps as a technical lead.
- Deep expertise in distributed systems and data pipelines at scale.
- Strong understanding of ML systems and multi-stage ranking architectures.
- Strong technical intuition and ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
- Humility and growth mindset, leading through expertise and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the tech lead for the Search organization, providing technical vision and architectural direction.
- Own a multi-year technical roadmap spanning indexing, serving, and backend systems.
- Drive the rebuild of core search infrastructure, including indexing pipelines and ML ranker serving.
- Drive alignment across ML, Infrastructure, Product, and partner engineering teams.
- Mentor staff and senior engineers to raise the bar of technical excellence.
- Set the technical bar for designing, shipping, and operating large-scale systems.
- Solve complex distributed systems challenges and write code that impacts performance.
