Job description

The Senior Researcher position at Microsoft Research Asia's Vancouver lab focuses on advancing artificial specialized intelligence through the development of large foundation models and post-training techniques. The role involves collaborating with diverse teams to integrate intelligent systems across various computing layers. Requirements

  • Doctorate in computer science or a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Doctorate in a relevant field and 2+ years of related research experience or equivalent experience.
  • Experience publishing academic papers as a lead author or essential contributor.
  • Experience participating in a top conference in the relevant research domain.
  • Background in system and architecture, including experience with computer hardware, software, and networking technologies.
  • Deep knowledge about the latest large model training/inference technology such as instruction finetuning, Reinforcement Learning (RL), and Reinforcement Learning with Hindsight Experience Replay (RLHF).
  • A track record of published research in the field of AI or other system innovation is a plus.
  • Keen interest in general AI research, including large foundation models and artificial specialized intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct cutting-edge research in large foundation models, focusing on applying them in specific domains.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate solutions into AI-driven systems.
  • Develop and maintain research prototypes and software tools, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to best practices.
  • Publish research findings in top-tier conferences and journals and present work at industry events.
  • Collaborate with other AI researchers and engineers to foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the team.
