Job description

The Last Mile team is focused on innovating the delivery process by developing smart delivery vehicles. The Software Development Engineer will play a crucial role in creating solutions that leverage edge IoT technologies and machine learning to enhance delivery efficiency. This position requires a deep understanding of integrating edge computing systems with cloud data analytics. The ideal candidate will have experience in developing applications at scale, particularly in consumer or industrial sectors.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience with design patterns, reliability, and scaling
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • 3+ years of embedded firmware development experience
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Develop solutions to access and utilize existing sensors within the fleet of delivery vehicles
  • Design the future fleet of delivery vehicles for the coming decades
  • Understand the integration of edge computing systems with cloud data analytic platforms and tools
  • Optimize user applications with a focus on UX and data processing pipelines
  • Work with data analytic tooling in a big-data environment
