Job description

The Senior Research Manager at NVIDIA will lead a team focused on world-model evaluation and benchmarking for Physical AI models. This role involves defining the scientific roadmap for evaluations and developing benchmarks for various aspects of model performance. The manager will drive improvement loops across model evaluation and failure discovery while ensuring high-quality publications and standards. The position requires a strong research background and experience in leading technical initiatives.

Requirements

  • Strong research background in machine learning, computer vision, multimodal AI, robotics, or related fields.
  • Experience leading research teams or cross-functional technical initiatives with measurable impact.
  • Deep understanding of modern foundation models, including video models and self-supervised learning.
  • Experience designing benchmarks, evaluation datasets, and diagnostic tools for complex ML systems.
  • PhD or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Machine Learning, AI, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of relevant research or engineering experience and 5+ years of management experience.
  • Ability to work onsite at NVIDIA’s Santa Clara headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Research Scientists focused on world-model evaluation and benchmarking.
  • Define the scientific roadmap for closed-system and open-system evaluations.
  • Develop benchmarks for various model performance metrics including physical plausibility and spatial reasoning.
  • Drive evaluation-to-model-improvement loops with various research teams.
  • Publish high-quality papers, technical reports, and open-source evaluation artifacts.
  • Establish rigorous standards for validity, reproducibility, and dataset hygiene.
